BMC Geriatrics has reached a Journal Impact Factor of 4.5, up from 3.8, while remaining a Q1 journal in Gerontology.
The updated metric was released as part of the 2026 Journal Citation Reports, published by Clarivate on June 17. The annual reports provide journal-level citation metrics across more than 22,000 scholarly journals and 254 research categories.
The increase reflects the continued growth and visibility of BMC Geriatrics as an international forum for research on aging, geriatric medicine, the health of older adults, and the organization of care in aging populations.
The new Journal Impact Factor marks another step in the journal’s development and its growing contribution to the scientific literature on aging and older adult health.
