Researchers from the University of Florida Institute on Aging participated in the 2026 Padua Days on Muscle and Mobility Medicine, held in Padua, Italy, from March 3 to 6.
The Institute was represented by Stephen D. Anton, Christiaan Leeuwenburgh, Stefano Cacciatore, and Rola S. Zeidan, with presentations covering lifestyle factors in exceptional aging, metabolomics and muscle DNA methylation, intrinsic capacity, and circulating signatures of physical function.
Dr. Cacciatore presented “Interplay of sensory function, mobility and cognition within the intrinsic capacity framework.” The work examined relationships among key domains of intrinsic capacity and reflected his broader research interest in understanding how multidimensional capacities interact to shape functional health in later life.
The meeting brought together international researchers working across geroscience, skeletal muscle biology, mobility, physical function, and healthy aging, providing a forum for discussion across clinical, epidemiological, and biological perspectives.
